I'm back, friends! Being in the field was... life changing. I really can't even put into words how amazing this trip was.
As you know, I went to New Mexico for a week and a half to dig up dinosaurs, and then went directly from Albuquerque to St. Louis for the annual Mary Engelbreit crafting weekend with my mom. It was strange being in a bustling metropolis after spending all that time sleeping on the floor of a tent, hiking all day every day, eating food cooked over an open fire, not having proper showers (I did have what some people might call a "shower," but there isn't much you can do when you're done bathing and your towel is saturated with dust).
I debated about whether to jump right in with all my amazing and obnoxious photos, but instead I think I want to share this embroidery I started in St. Louis first. It really sums up how I feel about the whole experience. Rarely does something I make express how I feel as well as this does; I could not be more impressed with everything about my time in the field, stunned by the Earth, and happy with something I've accomplished (more on that later!). My heart is so full when I think about my time out there.
